AntioxidantAbstract
Antioxidants are compounds that can counteract free radicals. Plants that can be used as a source
of antioxidants are cherry. Cherry plant (Muntingia calabura L.) leaves, fruit, bark and roots contain
flavonoid and phenol compounds which have antioxidant activity. Antioxidant activity can be measured
using the DPPH method.
The literature review aims to collect information about cherry plants that have antioxidant
activity using the DPPH method. The method of writing a literature review uses primary literature
studies in the form of national journals through online search sites with a year limit of 2012 to 2022.
Based on the literature review that has been carried out, the part of the cherry plant that has the highest
antioxidant with IC50 is found in the leaves with the extraction method, namely maceration using
solvents. ethanol of 9.01 ppm (very strong category) and the lowest antioxidant activity with IC50 found
in the fruit with extraction method that is maceration using ethanol solvent of 250 ppm (weak category).
