Background: One of the pathogenic bacteria causes infection is Staphylococcus aureus. About 90-95% of
Staphylococcus aureus bacteria are resistant to antibiotics. One of them with galangal. From various studies,
ethanol and methanol extracts are widely used as solvents for galangal. So it’s necessary to compare the two
solvents which are better at attracting antibacterial active substances in galanga
Objective: Comparing the antibacterial activity of S.aureus on ethanol and methanol extracts of galangal rhizome
Method: This systematic review by tracing Problem, intervention, comparison and outcome.It’s uses electronic
search by referring to various sources. The research design in the journal used experimental research.
Result: From various journals, the inhibition zone values for the galangal rhizome ethanol extract were 22.33mm
and 17mm, while the galangal rhizome methanol extract was 7mm and 11.8mm.
Conclusion: From the analysis, the ethanol extract of galangal rhizome can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus
aureus bacteria more than methanol extract of galangal rhizome
