Kopasanda (Chromolaena odorata L.) is a plant that contains flavonoid compounds that can act as
antioxidants. This study aims to determine the antioxidant potential of the ethanol extract of kopasanda stem
(Chromolaena odorata L.) by looking at the IC50 value. Kopasanda stems (Chromolaena odorata L.) were
extracted by maceration using 70% ethanol as solvent because ethanol had a significant effect on yield, total
phenol, total flavonoid, and free radical inhibitor activity. with the ratio of Kopasanda rods and ethanol solvent
1:10 for 3x24 hours. The extract obtained with a rotary evaporator to obtain an ethanol extract of Batang
Kopasanda (Chromolaena odorata L.), then tested for antioxidants using the DPPH method (2,2-diphenyl-1-
picrilhydrazil). The results of the antioxidant activity test using the DPPH method (2,2-diphenyl-1-
picrilhydrazil) showed a very strong antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 34,112 g/ml rods with a positive
control of quarcetin obtaining an IC50 value of 1,564 g/ml. Based on these results, it can be said that the stem
of Kopasanda (Chromolaena odorata L.) has very strong antioxidant activity against the free radical DPPH
(2,2-diphenyl-1-picrilhydrazil).
