Abstract
Background: Peel off facial masks are needed to care for the skin in keeping the skin healthy. Objective: The
aims to make a Peel-off mask formulation from rosella flower extract made with different base of PVA and HPMC.
Method: This study used an experimental method to determine the best proportion of rosella flower (Hibiscus
sabdarifa L.). Peel-off masks which included organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, storage time and
irritation tests. Result: The results of organoleptic test were light brown, typical odor, and semi-solid dosage
form. All formulas was homogen. The pH test of all formulas in pH 5. The spreadability met the specifications for
good coverage. The dry preparation test results had good drying power. The results of the irritation test showed
that the peel-off mask did not have an irritating effect. Conclusion: The study concluded that rosella flower extract
can be formulated into a gel peel-off mask preparation.
