EDUKASI DAN PEMANFAATAN JUS BUAH NAGA SEBAGAI UPAYA MENGONTROL GULA DARAH LANSIA DI DUSUN KEPUTREN

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by the body's inability to oxidize carbohydrates due to disruption of the mechanism of action of insulin, causing hyperglycemia. Based on the results of the pre-survey in Keputren Hamlet, it was recorded that as many as 12 elderly people suffered from DM. This service activity aims to find out the benefits of giving dragon fruit juice to reduce blood sugar levels in DM patients in Keputren Hamlet in 2025. The implementation of the activity was carried out through a pre-post intervention on the use and provision of dragon fruit juice therapy to DM patients, with a demonstration method by the service team. Partners in this activity are Keputren Hamlet cadres, who also play a role in the implementation and assistance of activities. Evaluation was carried out at the end of the activity through a question and answer session and a blood pressure check of the participants. The results of the activity showed an increase in the knowledge of the elderly community about the use of dragon fruit juice and a decrease in blood sugar levels after the administration of dragon fruit juice. Thus, it was concluded that this activity received a positive response from participants because it was considered to provide benefits in helping to control blood sugar levels, improve the health degree of the elderly, and become a potential non-pharmacological alternative in controlling DM in Keputren Hamlet.
