PERAN PENYULUHAN DALAM OPTIMALISASI PRAKTIK PEMUPUKAN BERIMBANG PADA USAHATANI PADI DI TANJUNG PALAS TENGAH KALIMANTAN UTARA

Abstract

Indonesia is highly vulnerable to earthquakes due to its position on the Pacific Ring of Fire. Postpartum mothers and newborns are the most vulnerable groups during disasters, facing risks of postpartum hemorrhage, infection, and neonatal complications. This community service aims to increase the capacity of postpartum mothers, families, and health cadres in earthquake preparedness based on maternal and neonatal care in Pasuruan Regency. The program employed a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach involving 52 participants selected through purposive sampling. Interventions included integrated education, evacuation demonstrations using the Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) technique, and community-based earthquake simulations. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge, with the average pre-test score rising from 56.4 to 86.7 (a 53.7% increase). Furthermore, 85% of participants successfully demonstrated safe evacuation techniques, and 79% mastered the KMC technique for hypothermia prevention in emergencies. The simulation resulted in an average evacuation response time of 4 minutes and 20 seconds. This program has succeeded in establishing a village-level maternal-neonatal emergency communication system and evacuation SOPs, thereby strengthening community resilience in facing disaster risks.
