Abstract

Premarital nutritional readiness is a crucial factor in supporting reproductive health and the success of future pregnancies. The nutritional status of prospective brides and grooms, especially women, plays a significant role in preventing the risk of pregnancy complications such as Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED), low birth weight (LBW), and stunting. This activity aims to improve premarital nutritional readiness through education and nutritional status screening using Body Mass Index (BMI) for prospective brides and grooms at the Sewon Religious Affairs Office (KUA), Bantul Regency. The methods used include premarital nutrition counseling, interactive discussions, and BMI measurement using observation sheets. The activity was held on December 9, 2025, and was attended by 36 prospective brides and grooms. The screening results of the 18 prospective brides and grooms showed that 8 were in the normal BMI category, 2 were in the underweight category, 3 were in the overweight category, and 5 were obese. These findings indicate that nutritional problems persist during the premarital period, which have the potential to impact the health of mothers and children in the future. BMI screening has proven to be an effective early detection measure to identify the risk of nutritional problems in prospective brides and grooms. Therefore, the integration of nutrition education and ongoing premarital health checks at the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) is essential to improve the nutritional preparedness of prospective brides and grooms before entering pregnancy.
